The Iraqi police in Kirkuk province on Thursday (February 7th) arrested six gunmen in a raid in al-Riyadh.

A police force raided a residential building in al-Riyadh and found six men who belong to a group called "Black Flags", an armed faction allied with al-Qaeda, Kirkuk police spokesman Col. Salam al-Jaf told Al-Shorfa.

Police found 800 grammes of explosives, 78 mortars, 13 improvised explosive devices (IEDs), other weapons and ammunition and maps of government buildings in the men's possession, he said.

Police took the gunmen to a security detention facility pending their referral to the Iraqi judiciary as per article four of the anti-terrorism law, al-Jaf said.
