A ranking officer in the Iraqi Interior Ministry's counter-terrorism agency was killed Monday (February 4th) in Abu Ghraib when his car exploded, police said.

"A sticky bomb attached beneath the car of Lt. Col. Riyadh Ali, deputy head of the anti-terrorism unit in Abu Ghraib, exploded, killing him and wounding two civilians who were near the car at the time of blast," Abu Ghraib police chief Col. Sabah al-Falahi told Al-Shorfa.

"Ali was about to leave home for his work when the bomb exploded," said al-Falahi, who said al-Qaeda stood behind the attack.
