The Jordan River Foundation (JRF) will hold a series of meetings this month with community-based organisations (CBOs) as part of a nationwide project to facilitate the installation of solar panels in households, The Jordan Times reported Thursday (January 31st).

Meetings will be held with around 5,000 CBOs and the JRF will select 70 to be partners in the project, JRF Director General Ghaleb Qudah told the newspaper.

Under the project, which is expected to start in April, the selected CBOs will contract with solar panel manufacturers and sell them to interested families, he said.

The project, financed by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, aims to install solar panels in thousands of households across the country in an attempt "to increase reliance on renewable energy and reduce consumption of electricity for heating water", he said.

It is well-known that Jordan is one of the noble Arab countries, and the authorities there think about everything affecting the Jordanian citizens. This is why the Jordanian government and all the officials have thought about ways of using renewable energy in Jordan, so that all the segments of the Jordanian population can use them, because this contributes in a good way in preserving energy.

Before expressing how impressed I am with what the authorities in Jordan are doing, I would like to point to the importance of solar power for use in our daily life. I hope that the authorities here in Egypt are trying to use this solar energy and that they are working on building large projects that rely on solar energy and renewable energy sources. The works done by the authorities in Jordan amaze us as to the thinking and imaginative abilities of the Jordanians in dealing with such renewable energy, completely removed from using electricity in most of the daily uses, because there are greater number of families whose electricity bills are very high. Meanwhile, the optimal use of solar energy helps reduce the costs, and it also provides the elements of security. Frankly speaking, I thank the authorities in Jordan for their genius in undertaking such projects without any fear, and instead they did this through advanced studies that are carried out prior to embarking upon those projects.

This talk makes me happy as a Jordanian. I feel that King Abdullah of Jordan has more and more of the new mechanisms to fix the resources of energy which are outdated or old, including solar energy, which is a renewable source of cheap, healthy energy, and then the country will walk towards progress in all fields. This assures that production in our country, Jordan, will increase because of the cheap energy. It is known that fuel is very expensive in Jordan, compared to our Arab neighbors. Truly, the man is doing his best to provide the people with energy, social justice and more stability, and more democracy in the elections. May God help him!

This matter has been spinning in my brain for a long time: if each household can actually afford a little bit of the cost in the beginning, to get solar energy, it will save them a lot of energy, but the funding is not that easy. The Jordanian king had that concept and started the project for thousands of houses, which is a good start and will really put Jordan at the forefront of the countries benefiting from the sun and renewable energy. By the way, it is very healthy and it is not harmful at all, and when families use it, they will discover that they use as much energy as they need, but at a lower cost than oil or electricity or others. May God help the Jordanians and make Jordan one of the pioneers in the use of solar energy.

In my point of view, there is no other way but to follow this system which saves energy in Jordan, even while we are opening other horizons of manufacturing energy. Also, I believe it is the right solution to provide renewable energy and serve the largest number of Jordanian families or to use solar energy in the homes of Jordanians. It will cost a lot only in the beginning, and then it is possible that the energy will be available dynamically and continuously without the high cost. I urge the leading government of Jordan to allow the people to develop and access their desires, and exploit the inexpensive solar energy, which is readily available in the Arab world, and which must be exploited to the optimum. I think that if these panels were installed by the Jordanian government without charge or prohibitive cost to the Jordanian citizen, there will be a collective approval from everyone and a competition to use this renewable, healthy, inexpensive, safe energy in Jordan.

The crisis of fuel consumption is global. In fact, we note that all the Arab States, including the oil-exporting countries, are going through the same problem. The crisis is attributable to the growing populations and the overuse of modern equipment and vehicles. For these reasons, the price of fuel is skyrocketing, affecting the industries using energy. Thus, we must rationalize the fuel consumption, especially in Jordan where people consumed a huge amount of fuel in two thousand and twelve. Therefore, the competent authorities in Jordan are supposed to reconsider the consumption planning and to use solar energy as an alternative fuel in some devices. In so doing, we could mitigate the consumption of fuel in Jordan.

Seriously, I admire the Jordanian King more and more everyday because his successive achievements that are offered to his people deserve respect. King Abdullah is confident that his projects would not benefit him solely, no, they would benefit the kingdom as a whole starting with the smallest employee to the biggest businessman. Hence, I wish that all presidents and rulers would be as magnanimous as king Abdullah II.

The renewable energy projects are very important in Jordan and there are many news that the Jordanian officials are discussing the establishment of renewable energy projects in certain areas in Jordan. For example, the Jordanian officials are discussing the issue of installing solar panels, which can help the Jordanian families significantly. Hence, I wish more progress to the Jordanian people and more development. I also send my best greetings to the Jordanian government, and I greet the attention the government is paying in achieving the interests of the Jordanian people and their efforts to establish projects to serve the Jordanian citizen. The renewable energy projects will not be the only ones to be implemented by the Jordanian government, but they come as part of a group of development projects under the patronage of the Jordanian government.

The Jordanian monarch is really a good man. Thus, we pray Allah to bless him since he is pampering the Jordanians, first by granting them democracy and then by giving the poor a lot of aid and solar heaters. This is really wonderful and the people are expected to thank Allah for this grace. We should bear in mind that solar energy will really save a lot of power and it costs a negligible amount of money per month.
