A member of the anti-al-Qaeda Sahwa forces and his son were killed Friday (January 11th) in a blast at his house in eastern Mosul, Ninawa province, the Iraqi police said.
"Two gunmen attacked the house of the Sahwa member in al-Mithaq neighbourhood, eastern Mosul, using a hand grenade. The victim and his family were in the living room," Ninawa police spokesman Col. Khalid al-Hamdani told Al-Shorfa.
The Sahwa member and his 7-year-old son were killed in the attack, which also wounded the Sahwa member's wife and a housemaid, he said.
Al-Hamdani said the victim's neighbours identified one of the gunmen, for whom security forces are now searching.
