The Iraqi police in Diyala province on Friday (January 11th) arrested three gunmen suspected of involvement in a Thursday attempt to assassinate Diyala University president Dr. Fadhel al-Dulaimi.
Two security guards were killed in the Thursday attack.
After receiving intelligence, police raided a residential building and found three men who had been seen near the scene of blast, according to Maj. Jamal Hatem of the Baqubah police.
He told Al-Shorfa the police found documentation, weapons and a remote detonator believed to have been used in the attack.
A judicial investigation team is handling the investigation with the suspects, he added.
