Security forces on Thursday (December 27th) arrested six individuals wanted for committing terrorist crimes and joining the al-Qaeda-affiliated "Islamic State of Iraq" organisation, Iraqi police in Salaheddine province said.
The arrest took place south of Tikrit, police said.
"The wanted individuals were arrested in three separate police raids on houses in Samarra on Thursday morning, based on intelligence," Salaheddine police spokesman Hasan al-Majmaie told Al-Shorfa.
The detainees are wanted in connection with attacks that involved improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and armed attacks on different targets across the country, he said.
Police found recently made explosives at the houses, and light weapons and al-Qaeda documents in the detainees' possession, al-Majmaie said.
