The Iraqi police on Friday (December 14th) arrested two men after they parked a booby trapped car near a popular market in central Fallujah, Anbar province, western Iraq, officials said.
Anbar police chief Maj. Gen. Hadi Erzaij told Al-Shorfa the men were arrested minutes after they parked the bomb near the market, where pets are sold. Surveillance cameras detected them and security personnel thought they looked suspicious.
An army unit disarmed the car bomb without any human or material losses, he said, and security forces found personal weapons, hand grenades and mobile phones in the men's possession.
The phones contained messages and phone numbers of al-Qaeda elements. Security forces are following up on this information, he said.
