Unknown gunmen on Thursday (December 13th) killed three Iraqi policemen and seriously wounded two others in an attack on a security checkpoint in central Mosul, the Ninawa provincial police said.

"Unknown gunmen attacked a police checkpoint using silencer-equipped guns in Serj Khana in central Mosul," Ninawa police spokesperson Col. Khalid al-Hamdani told Al-Shorfa.

Police killed one of the attackers, while four others fled, al-Hamdani said. Police are now searching for them.

The "attackers used an ambulance stolen from a nearby hospital to carry out their crime", he said.
