The Iraqi forces in Ninawa province on Monday (December 10th) announced they arrested "al-Qaeda's judiciary wali" in a joint security operation east of Mosul.

"A police-army force raided a residential building in al-Sharqiya neighbourhood, east of Mosul, based on intelligence on al-Qaeda," Ninawa police spokesperson Col. Khalid al-Hamdani told Al-Shorfa.

The operation aimed to arrest Yousef Abd Jassem, believed to be "al-Qaeda's judiciary wali", who was found in the building with one of his aides.

A quantity of weapons and explosives, along with important information about al-Qaeda and its movements in the region were found, al-Hamdani said.
