A special local police force on Saturday (December 8th) raided a residential building and arrested two gunmen as they rigged a stolen car with explosives, according to the Baghdad province police chief.

"Two al-Qaeda elements were preparing to put about 200 kilogrammes of explosives in the car so they could blow it up from afar," Brig. Gen. Abdul Jalil al-Asdi told Al-Shorfa.

He said police dismantled the bomb and removed the explosives from the car, and then took the gunmen to a security detention facility pending their referral to the judiciary.
