The Jordanian cabinet on Monday (December 3rd) decided to postpone municipal elections for six months starting on March 14th, 2013, citing "requirements of the public interest" and the polls' safety, Petra News Agency reported.

The government, in its weekly session chaired by Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour, said it approved the deferral based on a decision by the Special Bureau for Interpretation of Laws, published in the official gazette on November 14th.
