Unknown assailants on Wednesday (November 21st) killed a local official and two of his sons in an attack on his house in Abu Ghraib, police said.

"Gunmen attacked the house of Ali Mohsen al-Zubaie, head of the development committee in the Abu Ghraib local council, killing him, two of his sons and wounding another son," Abu Ghraib police chief Col. Sabah al-Falahi told Al-Shorfa.

The police suspect that the gunmen are still present near the victim's house and have launched a large-scale operation in search of them, he said.

According to al-Falahi, there are also suspicions that al-Qaeda might be involved in the attack.

Therefore, we should tackle all terrorist ideologies and all forms of religious and political extremism which Iraq is suffering from. Iraq should thus concentrate on reconstruction and rebuilding.
