A Sahwa forces leader and two of his aides were killed -- and five others wounded -- after gunmen attacked them as they met at a house east of Mosul, the Iraqi police in Ninawa province said Saturday (November 17th).
"Unknown gunmen attacked the house of Sheikh Mohammed al-Sabawi, leader of the Sahwa forces in Makhmour district, as he held a meeting with a number of Sahwa members," police spokesperson Col. Khalid al-Hamdani told Al-Shorfa.
The police arrested three of the attackers, and security forces are conducting large-scale operations in search of the others who fled, he said.
