Al-Qaeda suspect killed in Mosul

An army force on Thursday (November 1st) killed an "al-Qaeda leader" and arrested two of his aides in western Mosul, the capital of Ninawa province, the Iraqi Defence Ministry reported.

"A military force from the Iraqi army's 2nd Division clashed Thursday morning with al-Qaeda elements after besieging them at a building in the neighbourhood of al-Shuhada in western Mosul," Ninawa military command spokesperson Lt. Col. Abdul Rahim al-Atwani told Al-Shorfa.

"The clash lasted about one hour and resulted in the killing of a prominent Sudanese al-Qaeda leader and the arrest of two of his aides," he said, adding that two other aides fled the scene.
