Clerics across Iraq called on armed groups to leave the county immediately and let its people decide their future in their Friday (October 26th) sermons.
"It is about time we raised our voice as clerics, secularists, rural and urban citizens, men, children and women and said in one voice 'Enough! Leave our country! We will no longer tolerate your presence! Stop your destruction! Go and do not return!'" said Sheikh Abdullah al-Saadi, imam of al-Muhajireen Mosque in Fallujah.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Younis al-Falahi, imam of al-Yarmouk Mosque in central Baghdad, accused al-Qaeda of committing "unparalleled massacres" in Iraq.
"Logic, reason, religion and everything confirm that we have to combat terrorism, and we must do that," he said.
