The Iraqi Transport Ministry announced Saturday (September 22nd) that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Romania to resume flights between the two countries, following a 22-year hiatus.

Transport Minister Hadi al-Ameri said in a statement that the ministry signed the memorandum with Romania's civil aviation authority in Bucharest.

The two sides agreed to amend the air transport agreement they signed in 1976 due to developments in the civil aviation sector, the statement said.

They also agreed to run two air cargo flights a week between the two countries.
