Gunmen on Wednesday (September 19th) killed three Iraqi civilians, including an eight-year-old boy, in southern Baghdad's Saidiya neighbourhood, the Iraqi police said.

"Two gunmen opened fire from their machine guns on an employee of the criminal court in Baghdad, who was with a colleague and his son, killing them right away," Lt. Col. Hashem al-Abbadi, of the Baghdad-Karkh police, told Al-Shorfa.

"The attack took place while the victims were at a commercial street for wholesale [goods] in central Saidiya," he said.

Security forces are searching for the gunmen, who fled the scene on motorcycles, he said.
