Taiz security chief Brig. Gen. (Dr.) Ahmad al-Maqdeshi confirmed the arrest of three suspects in the province, including an alleged al-Qaeda member, 26sep.net reported Tuesday (September 18th).
Al-Maqdeshi described the other detainees as one with a criminal record, and the other as a defendant in a murder case.
"Taiz, like other Yemeni cities, is facing a lot of problems," he said. "Some are trying to stir up problems; however, the security agencies are firmly dealing with them, and are working hard to establish security and stability in the [whole] province."
Security agencies are currently carrying out campaigns to prevent people from carrying weapons in town to preserve citizens' safety, al-Maqdeshi said, thanking the residents of Taiz for their co-operation with security agencies.
