The Iraqi government said Saturday (September 15th) it plans to initiate a large-scale campaign to train members of the Iraqi security forces on the principles of human rights and respect for personal and public freedoms.
"The training will be in the form of theoretical workshops given by university professors and specialists in the field of human rights and Iraqi law," Iraqi national security advisor Faleh al-Fayadh told Al-Shorfa.
He said the workshop will include security forces in the ministries of interior and defence, as well as military and police academy cadets.
The aim of the programme aims to eliminate human rights abuses by security personnel against citizens.
