The Iraqi police in Anbar province said Wednesday (September 12th) it plans to increase the reward offered to citizens who provide information to security forces on the activities of terrorist groups.

The reward would be raised from four million Iraqi dinars ($3,433) to five million ($4,300).

"The decision was made to contain current terrorist threats in Anbar province, which represents about one-third of Iraq's land area," Anbar police spokesperson Col. Rahim Zaban told Al-Shorfa.

"Security leaders agreed at a recent meeting on a new mechanism to speed up the payment of rewards to citizens who co-operate with security forces while maintaining their anonymity," Zaban said.
