Syrian opposition fighters killed at least 18 soldiers in a car bomb and ground attack on a military position in Idlib province on Wednesday (September 12th), as fighting also raged in the country's commercial capital, Aleppo, AFP reported.

"There were 70 to 100 soldiers there when the attack occurred" in the town of Saraqeb, Syrian Observatory for Human Rights head Rami Abdul Rahman told AFP. "Twenty soldiers escaped, and clashes are still going on," he added.

Outside Aleppo, fighting erupted at dawn in the Nayrab area, around five kilometres from the city's airport, which remained fully operational, the Observatory said. Four Armenian Syrians were killed and 13 wounded on the road home from the airport after a trip to Yerevan.

Meanwhile, the army shelled a string of neighbourhoods in central Aleppo, including Suleiman al-Halabi, Sheikh Khodr and Qadi Askar, the Britain-based Observatory said.

Helicopter gunships also strafed the district of Bustan al-Basha, a witness said, and the Observatory reported that opposition forces used rocket-propelled grenades to attack a security branch in the adjacent Midan neighbourhood.

Elsewhere, a boy and a girl were killed and dozens of civilians wounded when the army shelled the village of Latamneh in Hama province, said the Observatory.

Also in Hama, the Observatory reported that eight bodies were found in farmlands in Halfaya village, following an assault by government forces. It said the number of dead was expected to rise as many people were reported missing.

In eastern Syria, troops shelled several districts of Deir Ezzor, and an unspecified number of people were killed in air strikes on the town of Albu Kamal, the Observatory said.

On Tuesday, 138 people -- 93 civilians, 19 rebels and 26 soldiers -- were killed nationwide, according to the Observatory. Of these, 13 people died in Aleppo, mostly civilians in Sakhur, Sukari and Bustan al-Qasr.

More than 27,000 people have been killed since the revolt against President Bashar Assad broke out in March 2011, according to Observatory figures.

We don’t know what the Arab leaders are waiting for regarding the Syria issue and regarding that corrupt tyrant, Bashar Al-Assad, and the crimes that he has perpetrated against his people. There is an Arab silence regarding the crimes that have been committed against the Syrians, which are in the category of major crimes against humanity. There is a shared historical legacy among the Arab Muslims that had a glorious past during the days of Arab nationalism and their unity in the face of the enemy, which gave rise to a unified Arab leadership that was able to demonstrate the resilience of the Arabs and their unity. I see the Arab silence as the result of division and disunity among the Arabs, and also selfish interests are also principal factors and this is a shame for our Arab governments unfortunately. The Arabs should unite on a common course of action and a common objective, so that they can realize the hopes of their peoples, and they should support oppressed nations like the Syrian people that are suffering from oppression and injustice at the hands of the gangs of Bashar Al-Assad.

Recently, the terrorist organizations gathered in the Arab lands and made them their home to spread their hideous crimes against humanity without having any right to do so, using extreme ideology that leans toward religion, which is innocent of it. If we looked at Iraq, Somalia, Yemen, Egypt, Algeria and Sudan, we would find that the ideology and methodology is the same. Moreover, that terrorism in the Arab world will never stop as long as there is no true and strong intention of all the Arab countries, especially of those that suffer from terrorism, to confront it, defeat it, and deal with its causes fairly. All the terrorist actions in the Arab world aim to destabilize the safety and stability of the Arab region, and all these bombings certainly cause the heart to bleed, and they blow up the human and religious principles and the values of unity and tolerance in the Arab world. Therefore, we find that we need to hold comprehensive Arab conferences to confront the phenomenon of terrorism and look into its causes, deal with it and define it, and deal with how it spreads and how to face it, because the world countries are not interested in what is happening in the Arab world. We should unite and confront terrorism ourselves. If the Arabs do not make efforts to deal with this disease, which has infected us along with Islam for many years, terrorism will have another action, and we do not know how powerful it may be if we do not unite and stand up against terrorism and terrorists. This may be the beginning of the Arabs coming together to suppress the spread of terrorism by Bashar Al Assad over the oppressed Syrian people, because this is fake terrorism at the hands of Bashar and his soldiers, to intimidate and shake the security of the unarmed Syrian people. So, if the Arabs start changing themselves, we will guarantee support and all the support from God to change what is bad for all Arabs, God willing.
