Gunmen killed a senior Iraqi Interior Ministry official Wednesday (August 29th) in an attack carried out in central Baghdad, the Interior Ministry reported.
"Gunmen believed to be from al-Qaeda attacked Brig. Gen. Nadhum Tayeh, director of the division of security movements for the Interior Ministry's emergency forces, while he was heading home in al-Muthanna Street in central Baghdad," Col. Hikmat Mahmoud al-Masari, director of media and communications at the ministry, told Al-Shorfa.
Al-Masari said Tayeh died immediately during the attack. The assailants used guns that were equipped with silencers.
