Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi on Thursday (August 30th) called Syria's regime "oppressive" and urged support for rebels seeking President Bashar Assad's ouster, AFP reported.

Morsi's address at the Non-Aligned Movement summit prompted a walkout by the Damascus delegation and drew a sharp response from Syria's Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem.

"The revolution in Egypt is the cornerstone for the Arab Spring, which started days after Tunisia and then was followed by Libya and Yemen and now the revolution in Syria against its oppressive regime," Morsi said in his speech at the summit.

"Our solidarity with the struggle of Syrians against an oppressive regime that has lost its legitimacy is an ethical duty, and a political and strategic necessity," he said.

Al-Muallem called Morsi's comments "interference in Syria's internal affairs".

I wish I knew why Moursi has not severed relations with Syria and expelled its ambassador!!! I see good words but ugly acts, or no act at all.

Does the prosecution of the journalists and owners of the TV channels and newspapers is part of the freedom or the policy of silencing the journalists and breaking their pens. The killers and the terrorists were released while the revolutionaries are still in the prisons. This is political aggression and suppression and first-class terrorism with a degree of disgust. Before you see the tiny things in the eyes of your brother, try to see the truck that is in your eyes first. Is this right or what?
