Suspected al-Qaeda gunmen killed three civilians and wounded two others in an attack targeting the house of a Sahwa leader, the Iraqi police in Anbar province said Saturday (August 25th).
Anbar police spokesperson Col. Rahim Zaban said the gunmen attacked the house of Sheikh Kadhum al-Alwani, leader of the eastern Fallujah Sahwa forces, killing three of his children and wounding his wife and a female guest.
Al-Alwani was not in the house at the time of attack, Zaban said.
He added that a security force chased the attackers and killed one of them, and a search is now under way for the five others who fled.
