The Iraqi Interior Ministry on Saturday (August 18th) announced that the country's security plan for Eid al-Fitr has come into effect.

Col. Hikmat Mahmoud al-Masari, director of media and communications at the ministry, told Al-Shorfa that tens of thousands of policemen have been deployed across the country to implement the plan.

The security forces' deployment will continue until the end of Eid, and swift pre-emptive operations will be carried out in different areas to thwart potential attacks, al-Masari said.

He said the security forces' command centre has been linked to army and police units across Iraq to facilitate the speedy flow of information and so security forces can respond to any threats.

The terrorist crimes that occur in Iraq have significantly and continuously increased from the extremists and terrorists which have been forming a high risk that we or the Iraqi society can ignore. The fear and panic have become the usual sense of the people of Iraq since the proliferation of these crimes. So there must be a confrontation to prevent such crimes and criminals from exercising their vile and atrocious crimes under many names including the political and religious, etc..
