The Iraqi parliament's security and defence committee said Friday (August 17th) that the government plans to host an international counter-terrorism conference under the auspices of the United Nations.
"The experience that Iraq has acquired in dealing with terrorist groups, especially al-Qaeda, [as well as] the suffering [the organisation] caused in the country and Iraq's incessant battles against the forces of darkness and evil made [Iraq] an expert in this field," committee rapporteur Adnan al-Mayahi told Al-Shorfa.
The conference "aims to shed light on the danger of the continuation of terrorism and ways the world can support Iraq and regional countries to rein in terrorism and put an end to it once and for all", he added.
Al-Mayahi said the parliament's foreign relations committee and government officials are making arrangements to hold the conference in the coming months in co-ordination with international organisations, including the United Nations.

The terrorist groups may rely on bringing the victims, recruiting them in a country and training them in another country. Terrorism aims to achieve the political demands and the terrorists often refuse to admit their crimes. The Iraqi Forces must work on combating terrorism and the governments must intervene to support and provide these forces with everything that they want to help them trap and reach those groups as fast as possible in order to eliminate them or at least to trap and to catch them. As such, it will be easier for them to destroy the terrorist cells deployed in Iraq and the decapitation of the snake head, which are its leader, is a must. It is they who are manipulating them and planning for them. There are other countries that have a purpose in helping and supporting them so that Iraq becomes an insecure country and that bloodshed and money continues in it.

Iraq is a country that possesses a wealth that no other country possesses and has goodness and patience beyond the limits of the people. It endures all the difficulties despite their great suffering which they were going through. Today and after all what we experienced and in defiance of terrorism, we were tried by its booby traps, its explosives, mortars, and its other methods to plant communal discord among the people of Iraq. It tried and will try all the different styles. However, it did not reap anything and only obtained disappointment because the people of Iraq demonstrated to the whole world that they are one people. It is strange to see and hear that those suicide and terrorist acts are accepted and supported by some Arab States and Arab citizens, although they do not agree with the Islamic Sharia, which distorts the reputation of the real Islam and Muslims, and not those who claim to be Muslims. The fact is that Islam is now considered by the non-Muslims a religion of terrorism and makes everyone have a negative attitude towards every Muslim.
