King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia called for solidarity, tolerance and moderation among countries participating in the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation Summit in Mecca on Tuesday (August 14th), Saudi Arabia's Okaz reported.
He suggested establishing a centre in Riyadh for dialogue among Islamic sects so they can reach common ground.
"The Islamic nation is currently living in a state of sedition and disunity that led to bloodshed of its people in this holy month in many areas across the Islamic world," the king said in a speech during the summit’s opening ceremony.
"The ideal solution for all these things will only come through solidarity, tolerance and moderation, and by standing united against those who are trying to undermine our religion and unity," he added.
