The Bahraini Information Affairs Authority announced that construction has begun on the largest Roman Catholic church in the Arab Gulf, Bahrain's Al-Watan reported Saturday (August 11th).
The church is being built in Awali in central Manama on a 9,000-square-metre plot of land.
Once the church has been completed, Bishop Camillo Ballin is to transfer the seat of the Roman Catholic Church's Vicariate of Northern Arabia from Kuwait to Bahrain.
There are around 2 million Roman Catholics in the Gulf region.

For all those who say no to building a church, I say: Where was your voice when the Shiite was knocking down the country on the 14th of February? We were standing. I was one of the people who worked for 15 and 16 hours and I didn't get my salary for 6 months, to stand with the employer. Where were you? Did you forget how the Christians supported you? When everyone left his job? Even the Sunni Bahraini; he used to work and then leave at the official time. Now you do not repay the favor and you don't want us?! Imagine if you destroyed our churches and we left the country. I think the next day the country would be occupied by Iran. Do not underestimate her!!

Everyone should mind their own business, there are plenty of mosques, so what if a church is built? Everyone has the right to pray and worship their God, so be civilized and deal with it

There is no power but from God! The biggest church in the Gulf area!! The mosques that are God's house are being destroyed while churches are being built! What is to be done? The people have the right to own this land! The Bahraini citizen spends half his lifetime waiting in order to be able to have a government house that hardly accommodates four people living in it, whereas you start building churches! God is our supporter and best helper!

Salam, first: if we deeply consider this issue, we'll notice that the government is playing a speculated, calculated game for the future; it believes that no sect will reject it, so it goes forward, according to the wishes of the people, as the government thinks, which I consider as the biggest stupidity!

There is neither might nor power except from God Almighty! Instead of destroying the churches of Bahrain, you build the biggest church?! Good thing, by the will of God!
