Police on Saturday (August 11th) arrested 20 people in Mosul suspected of involvement in armed attacks, the Iraqi police in Ninawa province reported.
"The detainees include a suspect with Sudanese citizenship who was arrested with light weapons, explosives and al-Qaeda leaflets in his possession," Ninawa police spokesperson Col. Khalid al-Hamdani told Al-Shorfa.
The Sudanese suspect and seven Iraqi suspects were arrested in a building, he said. Police arrested 12 other suspects at an old factory in the western part of town with 400 kilogrammes of explosives in their possession.
Al-Hamdani said initial investigations with the defendants indicate they are linked to attacks carried out by al-Qaeda in the town in past weeks.
