Three Iraqi soldiers were killed and eight others were wounded Tuesday (August 7th) when an improvised explosive device (IED) targeting an army convoy exploded in northern Babil.
"A roadside IED exploded as an army convoy passed," Lt. Col. Falah Ali, spokesperson for the army in Babil province, told Al-Shorfa.
The convoy was carrying supplies to an army base in al-Buhairat area, north of Babil’s capital Hilla, he added.
An army personnel carrier was destroyed in the blast and an investigation confirmed al-Qaeda’s involvement, Ali said.
He said joint forces are conducting raids and search operations in areas suspected of harbouring those involved in the attack.
