Seven Iraqi soldiers were killed and four others wounded Friday (August 3rd) in an al-Qaeda attack on army barracks east of Tikrit, capital of Salah al-Din province, military officials said.
"Army forces were attacked by mortars and shoulder-mounted rockets, followed by gunshots fired by some 15 al-Qaeda gunmen," said Salah al-Din military operations command spokesperson Col. Hussein Ali.
He told Al-Shorfa that security personnel killed three of the attackers and wounded a fourth, and army forces imposed curfew until Friday afternoon in order to search for the other gunmen.
