Yemeni authorities arrested on Monday (July 30th) an al-Qaeda member suspected of planning operations in Sanaa, Yemen's official news agency Saba reported.

Saba said the Yemeni capital’s security agencies arrested Abdul Rahman Abdul Qader al-Baihani, "one of al-Qaeda's most dangerous wanted members and one of its prominent leaders, planning terrorist and sabotage operations in the capital".

According to the news agency, al-Baihani was among the militants who fought against government forces in the southern province of Abyan in recent months. He was also accused of recruiting youth and sending them to fight alongside al-Qaeda against security forces in the two southern provinces of Abyan and Shabwa.

The Al-Qaeda organization is currently attempting to separate the southern part of Yemen and tighten its control over it so that it can take the reins of power in that region, and so that it can exert control over the Gulf region and use Yemen as its second base as the one in Afghanistan so that it can recruit the youths there. This is why the terrorists wanted to take hold of the southern part of Yemen and separate it, especially that they know that there are disagreements between the government headed by Ali Abdallah Saleh before the revolution and some of the movements there, especially the Houthi movement that entered into a war with the previous government due to Al-Qaeda deceiving it into believing that it would come to its help if the former government would attack and fight against it. But the war came and with it came the losses sustained by the Houthis and the terrorists that were helping in the war because the Yemeni forces taught the terrorists and all those that collaborated with them a great lesson regarding the fact that Yemen is a free Arab country and that the terrorists will never be able to gain control over it. Also, the Saudi forces played an important role in order to restrict their movements and prevent them from moving towards the borders of Saudi Arabia, and they were lying in wait for them and they repelled the Houthis. Now, it is necessary for the new government to carry out its duty in terms of preserving peace in Yemen, and even if there are disagreements, this does not prevent Yemen from being united, and the terrorists and their crimes should not be allowed to take hold there. And now Yemen does not want to lose the European countries due to the backward terrorist ideologies, and this is why it eliminated all those that are affiliated to this organization and all those that attempt to help it spread this criminal ideology.
