The Iraqi government said Tuesday (July 24th) it will set up camps for Syrian refugees at the Rubaia and Qaim border crossings between the two countries, according to Ali al-Dabbagh, the Iraqi government spokesperson.

"The cabinet earmarked 50 billion Iraqi dinars ($43 million) for relief and assistance for Iraqis returning from Syria and for preparing the necessary supplies to receive Syrian refugees," al-Dabbagh said.

Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki called on Monday for Iraqi forces and the Iraqi Red Crescent to care for displaced Syrians in Iraq.

Also on Tuesday, the Council of Iraqi Tribal Sheikhs announced that it launched a nationwide campaign to raise funds and collect food and health supplies for the Syrian population.

A statement issued by council said the tribes created a special fund for this purpose.

Donations to the fund reached 760 million Iraqi dinars ($650,000), 120 tons of foods and 1,200 kinds of medicines.

Stand for Syria before you regret it; don’t say that we can’t do anything about it. Yes you can do a lot. Stand for them everywhere; use the internet as much as you can to spread their cause and publish the void clips everywhere, at the special galleries of revolutions and to provoke the public opinion and by writing at newspapers and by financial support, by protesting and calling for supporting millions stands for Syrian people, but most important is praying, pray much for the Syrian to achieve victory.

I congratulate the whole of the Muslim world on the occasion of the great month of Ramadan, and may Allah bless them with this month for years to come with prosperity and his blessings, and I say to them, ‘may you enjoy good health and well-being all year round’, hoping to Allah that the whole Muslim world will witness Lailatul Qadr, the Night of Destiny, and that he will relieve all the Muslim nations on that night of any oppression that they are suffering from or living under, and that stability will be achieved in all the Muslim countries, and that he will encompass all the Muslim nations with his blessings and prosperity. I also congratulate the Muslim world on the occasion of the great month of Ramadan, during which the gates of hell are closed and the gates of paradise are opened. I call on all Muslims in this great month to forgive others regardless of how much they have wronged them, and to start a new page in life, filled with blessings and goodness.
