Syrian troops continued operations in and around Damascus on Monday (July 23rd) following clashes with armed opposition forces in the northern city of Aleppo, AFP reported.
"Regime troops raided the Razi area of Mezze, as well as Nahr Aysha, and Lawan in Kfar Sousa," the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.
State media also reported the operations, with the official Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) saying government forces "restored security" in the Razi area, seizing several rocket launchers, machine guns, communications equipment and stolen medical supplies.
Troops also attacked opposition forces in the north-eastern Damascus district of Barzeh, SANA said.
Monday's violence follows reports that at least 23 people were "summarily executed" by regime forces in Mezze and Barzeh on Sunday, the Observatory said.
"Sixteen people, most of them younger than 30, were summarily executed by shooting on Sunday in Mezze," Observatory head Rami Abdel Rahman said, adding that seven others were executed in a similar fashion in Barzeh.
Meanwhile, the Local Co-ordination Committees reported that military reinforcements arrived overnight in the capital city's southern neighbourhood of Midan.
They also reported overnight battles between the opposition and regime forces in Aleppo's Sakhour and Hanano neighbourhoods.

People who have declared hard line positions against the Syrian regime can’t stop supporting ideas and just wait for America to give them orders. We need free Arabs, do what they say, and don’t wait for orders from America and Israel. There is no true revolution in any country in the world unless the people and the army who made it against unjust regime. The original revolution doesn’t happen through the interference of foreign powers, but through the people itself supported by money and weapons from friends’ parties. The Syrian revaluation can’t be supported by America and Israel, but from Arabs and Muslims only, and support must be morally and materially with money and weapons. One way the Arab nations can use to salvation is to use the Arab League and its resolutions against dictatorships through isolating it on Arab countries level and withdrawal of ambassadors and establishing safe corridors for aid delivery.

Long live the army; long live the people; no to America; no to Al Saud.
