Engineering teams have cleared all facilities, government offices and public roads of landmines in Abyan province, Yemen's alsahwa.net reported Monday (July 16th).
Pointing to reports from technical engineering teams, Abyan Governor Jamal Nasser al-Aqel said Sunday (July 15th) that the province is now secure after specialists removed landmines planted by al-Qaeda planted prior to its defeat by the Yemeni army.
"Efforts are ongoing to complete the clearance of remaining landmines from the province's cities, especially Zinjibar and al-Kud," al-Aqel said during a meeting with the province's executive bureau.
