Iraqi police in Babil province on Tuesday (July 10th) thwarted an attack targeting the main market in the provincial capital of Hilla, arresting four suspects as they prepared to carry out the attack.

Lt. Col. Falah al-Khayat of the Babil police told Al-Shorfa the "four gunmen were arrested with explosives in their possession sufficient to blow up several high-rise buildings".

Initial investigations showed that the detainees planned to drive to the middle of the market in a garbage truck disguised as waste workers.
