The Sunni Endowment office in Iraq said Tuesday (July 3rd) that summer religious courses at mosques and sharia institutes will be taught solely by instructors known for their moderation.
Extremists will be prohibited from giving any lessons on sharia or religious sciences, the office reported.
Sheikh Khalid Hammad, director of summer courses at the office, told Al-Shorfa the measure seeks to prevent "poisoning the minds of the younger generation with extremist ideas".
The office appointed "religious instructors known for their openness, moderation and simplified explanation of Islam's rules, who will not bring any alien ideas and instil them in students' minds by way of these mosques", he said.

Shame on us Arab nations! We have lowered ourselves in front of our enemies because of our disunity and continuous disintegration, as if we were far from each other rather than neighbors who are sharing all of life's principles. In fact, we are linked by one language and one land, the glorious land of Arabs. Thus, if the ancient Arab dream has been the total union between the objectives, emotions, businesses and economies, we will become the strongest people on Earth. The day we achieve our union as the Arab Nation is the day of final victory.

What is meant by extremism? If it means takfeer, bombings and destruction, that is excellent and we agree! Moderation is the invitation to the predecessors' creed with wisdom and gentle advice. We not only want the Presidency to forbid extremism, but we also want it to fight extremism! We thank the Presidency for that!
