A Ninawa criminal court judge was killed and his driver was wounded late Sunday (July 1st) when gunmen fired on his car in Mosul, Iraqi police said Monday.
"Gunmen believed to be from al-Qaeda attacked Judge Abdul Latif Mohammed while he was on his way home in the al-Zohour neighbourhood using silencer-equipped weapons, killing him immediately and seriously injuring his driver," said Col. Khalid al-Hamdani, the Ninawa police spokesperson.
"A few hours after the attack, the police arrested seven suspects in the incident," al-Hamdani said. "They are now under investigation."
