The Iraqi Transport Ministry on Friday (June 29th) opened 30 mechanical weather stations that were destroyed in previous terrorist and military operations, the ministry reported.
The stations are affiliated with Iraq's Meteorological and Seismology Organisation.
Ministry advisor Bilal Hardan told Al-Shorfa that a Turkish and an Indian company finished building the stations, which are located in northern, southern, central and western Iraq, and outfitted with the latest meteorological and seismic equipment.
"The cost of building the stations was $21 million," Hardan said, adding that they will provide Iraq's airports and its defence, interior, transport and communications ministries with important information.
