Security forces in Kirkuk province arrested an engineer known for his skills at booby-trapping vehicles, police said Wednesday (June 20th).

Kirkuk police spokesperson Col. Salam al-Jaf told Al-Shorfa police forces arrested Sahab Abbas and five other gunmen in an operation in Hawija, south of Kirkuk.

Security personnel also seized four vehicles rigged for detonation.

The operation, which supported by army helicopters, was carried out based on intelligence showing the men were involved in car-bomb attacks on security forces and civilians in the past months, al-Jaf said.
