Trial proceedings have resumed in Saudi Arabia for members of a terror cell accused of plotting an embassy bombing in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia's Al-Youm daily reported Monday (June 18th).

The trial started Sunday with the defence's and prosecution's arguments.

The 50-person cell, which is affiliated with al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, faces a slew of charges, including carrying out terrorist operations, financing terrorism, and providing security forces with false information to lure them into ambushes.

Other charges include training individuals to use weapons as well as killing several non-Saudi residents in Riyadh.

The defendants could receive the death penalty or life imprisonment.
