Four soldiers were killed and a fifth was wounded when an improvised explosive device (IED) targeting an Iraqi army convoy in Haswa, Babil province, exploded, the Iraqi police in Babil said Saturday (June 16th).
Maj. Ahmed Saadi of the Babil police told Al-Shorfa that the locally-made IED targeted exploded directly under a military vehicle, killing four personnel, including a captain.
The convoy had been carrying supplies, he said.
Security forces arrested five suspects at a nearby farm who had in their possession a device believed to be a remote control used to detonate bombs, Saadi said.
