Eighteen suspected al-Qaeda members arrested in Kirkuk

Iraqi security forces arrested 18 suspected al-Qaeda members in a large-scale operation in Kirkuk province, police said Friday (June 15th).

The joint police and army operation was launched in response to recent attacks in and around the provincial capital.

Kirkuk police spokesperson Col. Salam al-Jaf told Al-Shorfa that nine of the detainees possessed weapons, hand grenades and explosives.
