The Iraqi Transportation Ministry announced Monday (June 11th) that it plans to open the door for investment opportunities in the nation's air carrier -- Iraqi Airways -- in an effort to modernise its fleet and remain competitive with international airlines.
According to statement posted to the ministry's website, "Iraqi Airways, a company of the Ministry of Transportation, plans to develop and modernise its fleet by approaching several international airlines about chartering modern planes suitable for air routes served by the company."
"This step came because of the company's keenness on resuming its flights and opening to different airports around the world," the ministry said.
