Al-Qaeda claimed responsibility for the June 4th suicide attack that targeted the Shia Endowment headquarters in Baghdad, according to a statement posted on jihadist websites on Sunday (June 10th).
Twenty-nine people were killed in the attack, and 121 others were wounded, according to Baghdad police.
The statement, which was signed by the Islamic State of Iraq, an al-Qaeda affiliate, said one terrorist member went "on a quick raid" against the endowment offices.
"Our heroic brother and martyr managed, with Allah's help, to storm the offices that were fortified and surrounded by military bases, checkpoints and cement walls, and to blow up his vehicle in the internal yard," the statement said.
