Twenty-six al-Qaeda fighters were killed in clashes with the Yemeni army in Abyan province, AFP reported Monday (June 11th).
The Yemeni air force also launched several raids Monday morning on the outskirts of Jaar, targeting the towns of al-Rumaila, Saken and Hesh.
The army took control of an ammunition factory on Jaar's northwestern edge. The factory was one of al-Qaeda's major strongholds in Abyan province. Two soldiers were killed during clashes.
