A crude oil pipeline in Kirkuk province was blown up when three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted beneath the pipeline exploded Saturday (June 9th), the Iraqi Oil Ministry said.
Ministry spokesperson Assem Jihad told Al-Shorfa the blast caused extensive material damages to the pipeline and an electronic control station.
The bombing also resulted in a large fire, he said.
The pipeline carries crude oil from Iraq's Bai Hassan oilfield, north of Kirkuk, to main oil pipelines in Turkey's Ceyhan seaport.
