Six gunmen arrested while preparing to target wedding in Babil

Six suspected al-Qaeda gunmen were arrested as they prepared to target a mass wedding ceremony in the city of Haswa in Babil province, Iraqi police in Babil said Friday (June 8th).

"The operation was based on intelligence the police obtained about the presence of gunmen at a thermal insulation plant on the public road that leads to Baghdad," Capt. Ahmed Derham of Babil police told Al-Shorfa.

Derham said a policeman was killed in clashes that occurred between police and the gunmen.
