The Iraqi government said Thursday (June 7th) that it received 1,200 scholarships for Iraqi students to study at Australian universities.
"The Australian government granted Iraq 1,200 scholarships in the fields of science, technology, agriculture and medicine," said government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh.
He told Al-Shorfa the government has issued instructions to Iraq's Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to choose the most suitable students for these scholarships.
"[These students] will leave for Australia early next month to study there on the dime of the Australian government and will later return to Iraq to take part in the development and revival campaign currently underway in the country," al-Dabbagh said.
