Five al-Qaeda members were arrested Tuesday morning (May 8th) in the Abd Weis area in the northern part of Babil province during an operation conducted by provincial police forces, the Iraqi Interior Ministry said.
Ministry spokesperson Maj. Gen. Adil Daham told Al-Shorfa that a prominent al-Qaeda leader was among those detained.
The police also seized weapons, explosives, narcotics and money believed to be used in financing terrorist operations, Daham said.
